Burning Public Money

Read about local and state subsidies that are going towards waste-to-energy incinerators and related industries.

This report written by the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA) explains the high costs and high emissions that come with the incineration industry which is funded by public subsidies.

While incinerator companies often label themselves as "clean energy" or waste-to-energy plants, these names are misleading as incinerators produce highly toxic pollutants. Communities surrounding these incinerators have to pay the cost of running the plants and they have to suffer from the pollution produced. The energy that are used by incinerator companies do not take into account the external costs of health effects and environmental impacts that incineration causes.
