Environmental exposures to polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) among older residents of upper Hudson River communities

Read about the health effects of dietary and residential exposure to polychlorinated byphenyls (PCBs) from the Hudson River.

PCBs are contaminants that plague the Hudson River from past electric capacitor plants in Hudson Falls and Fort Edward. This study assessed the PCB levels in residents nearby the Hudson River due to long-term dietary and non-occupational residential exposure to the Hudson River pollution.

The study found that dietary exposure was directly linked to increased PCBs in the residents while residential proximity was not.
