State's no-dumping mandate complicates park waste handling

After noticeable leachate leaking into aquifers, the state tightened controls on landfills and opted to close certain dumping stations.

While certain dumping stations closed, incineration is not a healthy or economical alternative, so private haulers have taken a large part in managing state waste. The state continues to look for viable solutions to the waste problem.
